چکیده

Climate warming is a threat of imminent concern that may exacerbate the impact nitrate pollution on fish fitness. These stressors can individually affect aerobic capacity and stress tolerance fish. In combination, they interact in unexpected ways where exposure to one stressor heighten or reduce resilience another their interactive effects not be uniform across species. Here, we examined how under scenario affects scope (AS), hypoxia heat susceptibility generally tolerant species, common carp Cyprinus carpio. We used 3 × 2 factorial design, were exposed three ecologically relevant levels (0, 50, 200 mg NO - L ?1 ) two temperatures (18 °C 26 °C) for 5 weeks. Warm acclimation increased AS by 11% due maintained standard metabolic rate maximum at higher temperature, improvement seemed greater concentration. Warm-acclimated less susceptible acute hypoxia, acclimated temperature exhibited improved (critical thermal maxima, CTMax) °C. This cross-tolerance attributed hematological results including haemoglobin haematocrit have compensated initial surge methaemoglobin exposure. • Warming are endanger persistence fishes. Interactive warm assessed. carp. Common hypoxia. Warming, pollution, conferred benefits.

Common Carp, Cyprinus carpio

The common carp (Cyprinus carpio) belongs to the family Cyprinidae. In nature, carp live in the middle or lower reaches of a river with slow currents, or in marshes. Their habitats are usually weedy areas with a muddy bottom. Carp fry feed on zooplankton such as rotifers and copepods, but as they grow up they become benthic feeders, feeding on animals and other organic material. The cyprinids h...

Common carp - Cyprinus carpio

Distribution ! e common carp [Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus (1758)] has been one of the oldest domesticated species of fi sh for food. Culture of carp in China dates back to at least the 5th century BC, although domestication began much later. ! e European races of carp derived from wild carp of the Danube; the earliest attempts date back to the Roman Empire and spread of Christianity in Europe, fro...

Histopathological Changes in the Kidney of Common Carp, Cyprinus Carpio, following Nitrate Exposure

Cyprinus carpio, common carp was exposed to subleathel concentration (12 ppm) of nitrate (KNO3) under acute and chronic static bioassay conditions. The resultant histopathological changes in the liver were recorded by light microscopy. LC50 values of nitrate, according to Reed-Muench method, were 995 ppm for 48 hrs and 865 ppm for 96 hrs. For the acute tests, the fish were exposed to 12 ppm of ...

The biomechanics and evolutionary significance of thermal acclimation in the common carp Cyprinus carpio.

The effects of thermal acclimation were investigated in the common carp Cyprinus carpio L. Acclimation and acute temperature effects were tested during ontogeny from larval [9.5 mm total length (L)] to juvenile (69.0 mm L) stages and between 8 and 21 degrees C. The myosin heavy chain (MHC) composition, myofibrillar Mg(2+)-Ca(2+)-ATPase activity, and muscle strains showed significant thermal acc...

Cardiorespiratory responses of the common carp (Cyprinus carpio) to severe hypoxia at three acclimation temperatures.

In vivo measurements of the cardiovascular responses of anoxia-tolerant teleosts to severe prolonged hypoxia are limited. Here, we report the first direct measurements of cardiac output (Q), heart rate (f(H)) and stroke volume during prolonged severe hypoxia (<0.3 mg O(2) l(-1)) in common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.) that had been acclimated to 6, 10 and 15 degrees C. While routine Q and f(H) valu...
